Op 29 september 2021 heeft het Zweedse parlement ingestemd met het regeringsvoorstel voor een nieuwe wet die klokkenluiders beschermt. Met deze wet wordt de EU-richtlijn betreffende de bescherming van personen die inbreuken op het Unierecht melden omgezet in Zweeds recht.

De officier van justitie heeft een gevangenisstraf van acht maanden geëist tegen een 58-jarige man die verdacht wordt van jarenlange passieve omkoping als ambtenaar van de gemeente Amsterdam. Inmiddels is de man, net als drie anderen die wegens passieve omkoping worden vervolgd, door de gemeente ontslagen.
